What we do

Guardian Services of Pennsylvania (GSP) is an organization which serves adults and older adults unable to manage personal and financial affairs. Services include guardian of person, estate, power of attorney and representative payee.

GSP was created to work on behalf of underserved and underrepresented adults and older adults who are deemed incapacitated by the court and who have no responsible family or friends to act on his/her behalf.

We recognize the value and integrity of our clients and thus act on our clients’ behalf in the most professional and ethical manner.

Included in these duties is application to entitlement programs, spend down and verification for Medicaid eligibility.

Guardian of the Person

Once appointed guardian of person by the court, GSP works to provide for the safety, well-being, dignity, and health of our clients in the least restrictive setting possible. In addition GSP encourages client participation in decisions and works hard to provide dignity at end of life care issues.

Guardian of Estate

We ensure that individual estates are managed and protected in a responsible manner. GSP files inventory, initial and annual reports with the court and safeguards all assets. For GSP clients on or below the poverty level who reside in long-term care facilities, GSP completes the medical assistance application process to ensure client benefits are secured in a timely manner.

Power of Attorney

GSP acts as Power of Attorney for those individuals who wish to give GSP the authority to handle specific responsibilities as requested by the principal (person giving the power).

Representative Payee

GSP acts as representative payee for persons – assisting them in managing their often limited funds in the most efficient way possible.

GSP is a member of the National Guardianship Association and is certified to provide guardianship services.
